Choosing the right woodworking router will enable you to get the perfect finish on your workpiece every time. Whether shaping edges, creating joints or hollowing out, there is a broad selection of routers to choose from depending on how you intend to use it and the materials you will be working on. Fixed base routers tend to be more compact and smoother handling for general use, whereas a plunge base router is more suited for through cutting, engraving and making mortices and deep grooves. If you will be doing a variety of work then routers with interchangable bases are also available, as well as ones that will accept both 1/2" and 1/4" bits.
