They can also be used for a variety of metal fabrication jobs that include cutting, deburring, finishing, and removing excess material from a piece. The most common types of grinders are powered by electricity, either corded or battery powered. The smaller versions are more versatile and lighter and tend to operate at much higher rpm rates than the larger ones, giving more precise clean cuts. Larger metal grinders have a more powerful motor to allow for deeper cutting and more heavy-duty removal of material, although they do tend to be heavier and bulkier.
