(15 products)Optical smoke alarms work via an infra-red LED which sends out a pulse of light into the units sensor chamber every 10 seconds. If smoke enters the chamber, it causes light to be scattered across the internal receptor which in turn causes a signal to be sent to the integrated circuit that triggers the alarm. They detect slow smouldering fires and are less prone to be set off by cooking fumes so are ideal for use in hallways or landings adjacent to kitchens. Variety of power source options available which are durable, long-lasting and simple to install.
