Also known as fused connection units, or FCUs, they enable an appliance to be operated on a separate ring to the main circuit which provides additional safety should any faults be detected. Each fused spur socket contains an individual fuse which detects these faults, helping to protect against damage and potential shocks. A spur switch ensures an appliance can be safely isolated for repair or maintenance purposes, or if the property will be empty for some time.
